1. Some scientist believe that having fluoride in our drinking water is a serious danger. Fluoride has been said to be more poisonous than lead and almost as poisonous as arsenic. It is an cumulative poison which means it builds up over time. The build up of fluoride can cause eczema, gastric distress, headache, and weakness. Fluoride has been linked to certain cases of bone cancer.
2. I think that over all adding fluoride to water is beneficial and should kept being done. There are very few cases where fluoride has caused harm in normal circumstances. The benefits of it out way the risk.
3. The main advancement that had to be made before toothpaste could be made with fluoride was that they had to get an abrasive. The main abrasive at the time was not compatible with the fluoride. The companies had to come up with a way to do this so they replaced the old abrasive with a new one, calcium pyrophosphate. This worked, and the first fluoride toothpaste was formed. Later, people also discovered gel toothpaste.
4. I am not worried at all about fluoride effecting me in any way but if I had to choose a side effect it would probably have to be the small things like headache and weakness. These side effects are the most common and to me would be vary aggravating.
